Townhouse Thebussem

Welcome to our own ‘little palace’ in Medina Sidonia in sunny Andalucia, the unspoilt part of the south coast of Spain, Costa de la Luz.

First, let us introduce ourselves

Have a cup of tea...

Jeannette and Irma, old school friends, bought an apartment in one of the oldest pueblos blancos, Medina-Sidonia. Not only our love for the sun - 300 days a year in this area - but also in search of authenticity, we chose a splendid historic townhouse near the lively Plaza Espana.

We like to share this destination with you and give the opertunity to rent our luxury townhouse. We hope that you will enjoy it as much as we do. And if you want to know more, please let us know by a sending a email.

Relax with family or friends

The apartment has been lovingly and tastefully renovated with an eye for detail and all the comforts of home for a relaxing short stay, holiday or even a couple of months!
Let’s be honest, who wouldn’t enjoy relaxing on the roof terrace with family or friends soaking up the stunning views over the Spanish landscape stretching as far as the bay of Cádiz.

Historical townhouse

The historical house is situated in a quiet street with the same name: Calle dr. Thebussem according the Spanish writer Mariano Pardo de Figueroa / Dr. Thebussem (1828 - 1918). In those days he lived in the house. The Palacete Thebussem (1857) is situated against the old city Roman wall, with an historic 500 year old moors arch existing within the house itself.  The main entrance is leading to four other apartments, but our apartment is situated within the old servants quarters with three different floors.

Private entrance, Plaza Llanete

The private entrance to our apartment is on Plaza del Llanete de Hedereros, a small white square next to ‘Bar Llanete’ and opposite Hotel Medina. After unloading your luggage, you can park your car around the corner at the free car park, a 3 minute walk from the apartment. In the village itself you do not need a car, everything is within walking distance.

The apartment

Our apartment (165 m2) is one of five apartments in a historic townhouse which has its own private entrance. It consists of several levels with spacious rooms. It is suitable for families with older children or a group of friends with a maximum of 5 people. Each room has a private bathroom with shower and toilet. The plunge pool and roof terrace are for communal use. Our apartment has its own terrace, balcony and mirador, with stunning views providing enough space for tranquility and privacy.

Medina Sidonia  a charming town

Our townhouse is within walking distance (5 minutes) of the main square, Plaza Espana, with an abundance of terraces and bars in the vicinity of the market and the hussel and bussel of the lively town. Tourists visit Medina during the day to admire the historic buildings such as the moorish Puertas Pastora, Belena, the roman wall and the Iglesia Santa Maria. It is definitely worth a visit, as it is one of the oldest white-washed towns with its Castillo and 360 degree views over the natural parks, sierras and the ocean, as part of the ‘Ruta Pueblos Blancos’. In the mornings and evenings the terraces and bars are filled with local Spanjards and it is a wonderful experience to be part of the Spanish ambiance enjoying delicious tapas and vino, at very reasonable prices. The town itself is safe and not overcrowded.

Costa de la Luz

Medina Sidonia lies in the heart of Costa de la Luz. Just half an hour’s drive from many sandy beaches such as Chiclana, Bolonia, Conil etc. and in the vicinity of National park Doñana and the Sierra’s natural park Grazalema. An ideal holiday destination for nature, hiking and beach lovers. If you like cities, then Cádiz, Arcos, Vejèr, Jerez, Sevilla, Ronda, Malaga, Granada en Cordoba are the ideal places to visit for a day trip. Tarifa is a surfers paradise. The Costa de la Luz offers plenty of opportunities for golfers. For more extensive tourist information on the area we recommend you look on the official tourism website of Andalucia.
